Special Note* - Don't panic because the size of the packet. We are going to be working through it piece by piece. This is in preparation for the book project you will be completing. It is MORE than enough and is the entire unit. You are only responsible for the ones listed each week. Do keep track of your packet however, because some of it is there to help you if you get confused or need additional support. This blog page is set up to where you may ask questions.

Bodacious: In the early morning sun, the brown, furry dog sat patiently for his master under the overgrown maple tree.
Wednesday 3/18
HAIKU- The Haiku is a Japanese styled poem. The subjects are typically natured based. The haiku is simple, yet clear in its intent. It is a three lined poem. The amount of syllables contained in each line are set. Therefore wording is important to make your imagery clear.
Go to the Haiku Pattern Template worksheet. Examples are included on the worksheet. Also to help you with counting syllables-- on the classroom website under the 6th Grade Learning Center tab is button that says [counting syllables] click on it and input your word.
Do TWO poems. Suggestion-- do the title last. One poem must be about nature or something found in nature. The second poem can be on any topic you wish.
Thursday 3/19
Cinquain Graphic Organizer - the worksheet should be front and back. Do TWO poems. Do the title last. The example of the poem format is on the worksheet at the top of the page.
Notice that line 1 and line 5 are synonyms of each other. YOU may go from general to specific or like the example below... specific to general. Line 3 are verbs ending in "ing". Line 4 is a descriptive phrase extend the thought.

- Go through the packet unitl you find: Bodacious is the word! It will be the first one of the set. The focus is to bring flair and style into the simple sentence.
