It is hard to be quiet. Our mind, thoughts, words, and activity flow freely from us everyday. We are constantly being pulled in different directions, often not taking the time to simply breathe, let alone, spend time listening for the message God may be trying to give us. God is our strength when we are weak and our hearts cry for Him. He is the joy when we laugh and praise Him. For the next two days I encourage you to take time to truly hear His message for you, and to be revitalized by His Word. Journal your thoughts; ask questions; seek answers; be not afraid.... He will be with you on your journey.
This Friday we will begin a journey to hear the Word of God by silencing our voices so we may hear His. It may be tough for some of you, and that is okay. Every journey worth taking has a few challenges along the way. If you speak...just keep trying for stillness. This is not meant to be a limitation but, rather a freeing excercise to bring focus and clarity into your devotional prayer time. Friday please have with you: a bible, journal (may be a personal one), pen, water bottle, snack, and headphones (optional). You will refrain from talking to one another. During class/work time you may ask the teacher questions, and answer the ones the teachers ask of you. In some classes you will be using flips instead of talking. No texting/emailing one another until the posted retreat times. Use the time given for devotional studies and reflection. You do not have to refrain from normal activities, just embrace the silence as you go throughout the day. Observe. Observe. Observe.
Please feel fee to ask questions this week before the event so we will be ready to go... |
