Linking Verbs - Forms of Be
A linking verb connects a noun or pronoun at or near the beginning of the sentence with a word at or near the end of the sentence. In English the most common linking verb is the form of be.
Example: Shelia is an artist. He was excited.
Some other common words used as a linking verbs:
appear feel look seem sound taste
become grow remain smell stay turn
Write the following sentences. Circle the linking verb and draw a double headed arrow to the words being linked together by the linking verb.
